Living Laboratory
The project focuses on two areas: permaculture and ecological restoration. These approaches enable students to actively research, collaborate and learn in real environments. It also encourages self-reliance in food production and promotes sustainable practices in waste management and agriculture.
Approaches
Fruit tree
These spaces are essential for food landscapes and the project focuses on long-term fruit production. The aim is to take advantage of the harvest and mitigate losses caused by birds. In addition, their existence brings benefits for life in general and the possibility of marketing the fruits.
Nursery
Orchard
The kitchen garden is the place where food and aromatic plants are produced. In addition to producing food, it is used to analyse the growth of plants and the factors that affect them, such as nutrients, diseases and pests. Solutions for cleaner food production are also investigated and other relevant knowledge is acquired.
Composting and vermiculture
Composting transforms organic waste into natural fertiliser using earthworms. It provides nutrients for plants, reduces waste and analyses thermochemical changes.
